Each year, Philadelphia Works collects petitions from employers and partners for needed additions to the region's High Priority Occupations list
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Workforce System has established High Priority Occupations (HPOs) as one component of Pennsylvania’s industry-driven approach to workforce development. The purpose of the HPO lists is to align workforce training and education investments with occupations that are in demand by employers, have higher skill needs and are most likely to provide family sustaining wages.

Draft list for 2020-2021 High Priority Occupations List
Employers, workforce, education, training and economic development agencies interested in petitioning for the inclusion of an occupation should reach out through firstname.lastname@example.org by June 1, 2020 to complete a request and provide related documents. Petitions are due to the state June 19, 2020.

The commonwealth’s workforce development strategy targets education and training investments to High Priority Occupations, or HPOs. HPOs are used to identify workforce programs that provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to enter, maintain or advance their careers.
