On January 11, 2021, Governor Tom Wolf announced a $4.7 million award in support of job training by businesses looking to hire skilled workers. The funding comes from PAsmart, the workforce development initiative outlined in 2019 by Governor Wolf to help Pennsylvanians enhance the skills they need to secure family-sustaining jobs. The PAsmart grants fund numerous workforce and apprenticeship programs statewide. For Philadelphia Works, this award means $250,000 to support the region's advanced manufacuting Industtry Partnership, Southeastern PA Manufacturing Alliance (SEPMA). SEPMA is a multi-employer collaborative comprised of regional manufacturers that work with education, workforce development, economic development and community organizations to address the workforce and other competitiveness needs of the manufacturing industry.
